COVID-19 Risk Reduction & Prevention
Safety Guidelines for Makeup Artists
- I am required to wear a face mask, covering the mouth and nose, at all times during the duration of the appointment.
- I sanitize all of my makeup products and brushes/applicators with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. I also use it to spray lipstick and brushes, before wiping them clean.
- My brushes are spot cleaned before touching each client. This is done by saturating the bristles in brush cleaner and spraying them with alcohol/Barbicide afterward.
- I take the time to deep clean my brushes by using a high-grade disinfectant soap.
- A closed bag is used for my clean brushes and another one for my dirty/used brushes.
- I keep disposable applicators on hand as “double-dipping” is unsanitary and contaminates the entire product.
- Lipstick/Gloss is placed on a palette using a spatula and applied with a brush. If applied from the lipstick tube, I sanitize it and remove the top layer of the lipstick.
- I am reminded to never cross-contaminate my makeup products/brushes. I also keep my workstation clean and wash my hands before each client.
- I show my clients how clean and cautious I am to ensure they are getting their makeup done in a sanitary environment.
- Screening - I use a pulse oximeter to check the temperature of myself, any required assistants, and talent before starting makeup. A Pulse Oximeter is a painless and reliable way for people to self-measure their blood oxygen levels.
- Workplace precautions - I ask that all crew take measures to prevent the spread of COVID19 on set. Let's work together to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as possible.
